Phulkari
Threads in the Fabric of Memory
A contemporary conversation with an inheritance carried through colour, repetition and the hands of women.
The series
I think of Phulkari as a letter from the women who came before us: an archive of lived memory hidden inside pattern.
The series begins with abstract paintings that borrow the energy, rhythm and accumulated marks of embroidered cloth without attempting to reproduce it. The works hold fragments of family, place and an inheritance that is felt as much as it is understood.
Augmented-reality overlays and projection extend those painted surfaces into movement. Old making and new technology meet without one replacing the other, allowing memory to remain alive, layered and unfinished.

A living surface
The painting is not the end of the work.
Through augmented reality, projection and spatial installation, the image becomes a threshold: pattern moves, memory changes scale and the viewer steps inside the conversation.
